About Michael

A successful public service career and tertiary education allowed me to explore my passions in life: community services, welfare, disability support, management, leadership and sport.

Since leaving the public service I have held two senior roles in the not for profit sector. Between 2001 and 2005 I was the ACT/NSW Area Manager of Royal Blind Society (now Vision Australia), responsible for service delivery to thousands of clients (children, youths, adults and the elderly) in the ACT and south and western NSW areas. During this time I developed a thorough understanding of the intricacies of rural and remote service delivery.

From June 2005 until November 2013 I held the position of CEO of RSPCA ACT. This role was a high profile, demanding, challenging and incredibly rewarding role. I achieved all I set out to achieve with RSPCA and it was time to move to the next challenge. RSPCA is stable, financially viable and set to move to new premises. Stability and financial security and a road map for the future were the goals I set for the organisation and myself to achieve.

I have augmented my formal study with role specific study and research, full details of which are above. Since leaving RSPCA I have focused on finalising my post graduate education with an MBA, coupled with focused consultancy roles to hone my strategic planning and business development capabilities.

I have been vision impaired since birth. This has never stopped me from achieving what I set out to achieve. My career highlights demonstrate my tenacity, work ethic and desire to achieve despite my limited vision. I have also represented Australia at two sports and toured extensively with national teams.

Described by many as an inspirational leader, highly strategic thinker and astute businessman with a focus on administration, customer service and integrity I have taken the decision to explore new possibilities.

Below are some articles written about animal welfare policy and Michael's influence

Michael helped the former Prime Minster Kevin Rudd settle his pets, Abby and Jasper into the Lodge. A coup for RSPCA and a clever way to discuss national animal welfare policy.
